Cochran wins Denver’s ‘Fittest CEO’ competition

DENVER, Colo. – November 17, 2008 – James Cochran, president and CIO of DCT Industrial Trust was named “Denver’s Fittest CEO®” at the conclusion of a fitness competition hosted by Boulder-based CEO Challenges, the world leader in sport competitions designed specifically for C-level executives, and The Colorado Athletic Club. Cochran proved fitter than his competitors in the Who is Denver’s Fittest CEO^®? competition, which included a rigorous 15-minute fitness test that covered various levels of fitness, including endurance, core strength, strength and flexibility. Competitors were able to take the test at any of the four Denver-area Colorado Athletic Club locations during October and November.

Cochran was one of four competitors from DCT Industrial Trust, all of whom placed within the top 10. Headquartered in Denver, DCT Industrial Trust is an industrial real estate company that owns, operates and develops high-quality bulk distribution and light industrial properties in high-volume distribution markets in the U.S. and Mexico.

“I think it’s safe to say that, at least until the next CEO Fitness Challenge, DCT Industrial Trust is the fittest company in Denver,” said Ted Kennedy, president of CEO Challenges.

Coming in second overall was Stephen Schutte, general counsel for DCT Industrial Trust, and rounding out third place was Clarence Harrison, owner and president of FloorCrafters Hardwood Floor Company in Boulder. Taking first in the over 50 category, and fourth place overall, was Philip Hawkins, also of DCT Industrial Trust.

“We’re really excited about this great inaugural event,” said Kennedy. “It proves that Denver has some very fit CEOs and companies. A competition like this is an important way for business leaders to promote fitness within their organizations. Our goal is to take this program around the country and eventually stage a USA CEO Fitness Challenge to find the ‘Country’s Fittest CEO.’
