Simon Lessing is the 5-time world triathlon champion and has won at every distance from sprint to Ironman. CEO Challenges asked Simon to recommend the best bikes for the various distance triathlons that CEO competitors will race in 2008.
Based on comfort, aerodynamics, weight, and type of course, Simon has recommended the three Javelin bikes listed below. All three will include the CEO Triathlon Challenge logo, and are officially ‘endorsed by Simon Lessing’.
Simon was asked to pick the ultimate components for each bike, and below you will find what he had to say about the bikes, and the reasons why he feels each is a great choice. (Note that through a special deal with Javelin, the bikes will be offered at a significant discount to retail!).
Simon Lessing:The BaroloThis is the bike that I have been riding for the past three seasons, and I must say I love this bike and found its overall performance and road handling fantastic. This is a very versatile bike as it has an adjustable seat post that allows you to ride anywhere between 71.6 to 77.4 degrees.
On this bike I have done well on both flat and hilly courses and have found it to be an extremely responsive bike that I feel not only safe but comfortable riding. The combination of aluminum butted aero tubing and carbon fiber rear end stays works well for high speed stability and reduced transmission of road vibration.
This is a high performance bike that can be used on most Ironman courses and would be ideal for those of you who are looking for an all around bike.

The Lugano
This carbon fiber time trial frame has the world’s fastest wind tunnel tested tubing. The tubing was designed by John Cobb and the frame is hand crafted in Italy. It is the only fully custom carbon fiber time trial frame on the market today.
The Lugano is the most responsive and lightest TT bike I have ever ridden and, thanks to the carbon fiber frame, it offers extreme comfort and agility.
The 78 degree seat angle makes this bike ideal for a flat or undulating bike course, although depending on your set up it could quite easily work well in most cycling environments.

The Torgiano
This is the ultimate in carbon fiber road bike design and ride quality. The Torgiano is hand crafted in Italy and has functionally shaped tubing for a stiff front end.
Javelin offers full custom sizing and geometry as part of the Riserva program.
I have enjoyed riding this bike over the past few years as I spend about 30 percent of my cycling time on a road bike. As a matter of fact, on the weekend you will usually find me up one of the Boulder Canyons on this bike!
I have found this bike to be light and responsive with excellent road handling qualities. The Lugano set up with clip on aero bars would be the ideal bike for anyone who is looking for an all around bike that offers comfort, reliability and performance. This bike would be great for anyone doing a race with over 4000 feet of climbing where aerodynamics is not a huge factor.
