The Xterra World Championship includes a 27-mile course that offers unyielding terrain. Participants begin with a one-mile ocean swim leg, then move to mountain bikes and a 2,500-foot climb and descent before completing a grueling run, which covers trails and beach sections within the vicinity of the Maui Prince Hotel area.
The Xterra CEO Challenge competition - a competition within the larger race - is limited to 15 competitors on a first-come, first-serve basis. Unlike most other competitors who enter this Xterra event, CEOs who sign up through CEO Challenges do not have to pre-qualify in a regional event. General registration for the Xterra World Championship is closed, making these CEO Challenge slots very valuable for competitors.
CEO Challenge participants must be CEOs, owners, presidents of companies with at least $2 million in annual gross revenue or C-Suite executives of companies with at least $5 million in annual gross revenue.
The all-inclusive entry for two is $4,200, including race entry; VIP passes; five-day, four-night accommodations at the Maui Prince Hotel; a pre-race dinner for CEO Challenge competitors with professional athlete speakers; race uniform; group breakfasts; an awards reception; and an opportunity to network with other CEOs over the course of this long weekend. A portion of net proceeds will be donated to Challenged Athletes Foundation.
"We are truly honored to be a part of this very prestigious event this year," said Ted Kennedy, president of CEO Challenges. "The XTERRA World Championship is one of the marquis multi-sport events in the world, and we know our CEO Challenge competitors will love the opportunity to race in Maui."
