Carl Wernicke - Oak Hill Advisors (New York, NY/London, England)
Carl Wernicke is the Managing Director of Oak Hill Advisors, a credit hedge fund focusing on investing in securities of non-investment grade companies. They invest up and down the capital structure and go both long and short as they deem the opportunity. Founded over 20 years ago, they have offices in both NY and London and manage funds on behalf of large institutions, endowments and high net worth families. Carl is one of five partners at OHA and currently is Co-Head of Investment in London (he spends 2-3 weeks per month in London). Additionally, he retains responsibility for the company's NY research effort. Carl has been with Oak Hill since 1999 and formally held positions at Goldman Sachs, UBS and SunAmerica.
Carl has been involved in triathlon for five years, the last four competing in Ironman distance races. He has completed 6 Ironman races (2X Ironman USA Lake Placid, 2x Ironman Florida, 2x Ironman Coeur d'Alene) and in addition to these races, he has raced a number of half-Ironman distance races and Olympic distance events. Carl is supported by his wife Sherry and their two-4 legged children, Kayla and Casey - dogs both of whom were rescued from an animal shelter.
Carl signed up for the CEO Challenge as a way to "meet and compete (but more importantly develop a common bond) with other individuals who have similar drive, determination and most importantly schedules such as my own. I look forward to the race and all the the CEO Challenge has to offer its participants."
