Chip Self - Logic Systems Sound and Lighting, inc. (Valley Park, MO)
Chip Self is the President and Owner of Logic Systems Sound and Lighting, Inc., a business that audio, video and lighting services for concerts, large corporate meetings and special events for over 21 years. They have worked extensively with most major touring artists, Fortune 500 companies and a great many world political leaders. Cignal, Chip's second company, was born out of the capabilities of Logic Systems, a little over 6 years ago. Cignal designs, sells and installs audio, video and theatrical lighting systems for Churches, Schools and performance venues. As well, Cignal has recently added a department of dedicated video production staff, working with clients to film, edit and produce video media for advertising, training and documentation. Chip is the president and owner of Logic Systems and the VP - Director of Engineering / co-owner of Cignal. Chip has a luxury of working in both worlds -- on some days he's a desk jockey handling the paperwork that makes the business operate. on the next day, Chip is just as likely to be working an an arena setting up a production system at a venue.Another unique aspect of Chip's company is that he started it when he had not even graduated from high school, and while he's had a few odd jobs along the way, this business was the goal all along.
Chip was a runner during his high school days, but an injury and knee surgery kept him away from running for almost 20 years. After another accident at work, a PT put him back on the treadmill. One-13 minute mile later, and Chip was running towards a goal of a 5K. Now, he's very competitive on the local running scene, and has competed a few times nationally for his age group. After a few years of consistent training, he's back to running close to the pace he ran in high school, 21+ years later. I'll be competing in the USATF Masters Indoor track & Field National Championships at the end of March in the 800, 1500, and 3000m. After this, training will shift from speed to endurance to prepare for Ironman Arizona in November. This will be Chip's first Ironman AND his first triathlon over sprint distance. Chip has improved his time, running 4:50.00 at 1500 meters, "which is a great deal faster than that 13 minutes on the tread mill :)"
Chip is supported by his wife Mary and their four children. While none of the kids are runners, early warning signs have been seen in two or three of them. Chip is looking forward to the great opportunity of the CEO Challenge.
