David Brule II - Northern Star Industries (Iron Mountain, MI)

Dave Brule II is Co-Owner and Executive Vice President of Northern Star Industries, Inc. (NSI). NSI, located in Iron Mountain, MI has two business units, Systems Control and Boss Snowplow. Systems Control designs, manufactures and markets electrical relay and control panels to the utility industry. It also manufactures metal buildings that house the panels. Boss Snowplow manufactures a complete line of snow removal equipment for pickup trucks and utility vehicles (UTV's). Combined the company employs approximately 350 people.  Dave has been with NSI, a family-owned business, for 11 years. Prior to joining the family business, he worked for Montgomery Securities, Deutsche Bank and Patricof Ventures in the San Francisco bay area.

Dave graduated from Williams College in 1992, where he was Captain of the Williams Alpine Ski Team and played Lacrosse. From 1986 to 1989, Dave competed for the US Ski Team in events around the world including the World Junior Championships, The World University Games and continental cup races. In 1993 and 1994, he won back to back corporate national titles in skiing at the Ford Corporate Ski Challenge.  Dave started competing in triathlons in 2002, and participated in the CEO Ironman Challenge in Lake Placid in 2003. He now fits his training in between work, family and coaching soccer and hockey with the kids.

Dave is supported by his wife, Stephanie, and their children Nick, Katie and David III, aka "Bubba".  He signed up for this event because "I had a great time with the CEO challenge back in 2003 (I can't believe it has been 5 years already). Since then, I have been very busy and unable to train and compete as much as I would like. The CEO challenge is so well organized and they are able to eliminate some of the logistical stress of doing an event. Also, I will be turning 40 two days before the event. Is there a better way to celebrate than going out and suffering...?"
