Luis Chicani - DentalCorp
Luis and his wife founded DentalCorp, a dental insurance company, 15 years ago with $600 when they graduated from Dental school in Brazil in their early 20's. The business became very successful, becoming the #4 company in Brazil with 200K members. Luis sold the business last year to the #1 company in Brazil (OdontoPrev) for US$15 Million.
The new company (ODP + DNT) has 1.7 million members, and recently did an IPO for US$250 Million, putting them in the top 15 in the World. Luis recently left the CEO roll, and is now on the advisory Board, plus he is starting benCorp (+Benefits....- Risk !) a Health Plan Management risk company.
Luis ran marathons in São Paulo (2003) 4:48; in NYC (2004) 4:28; Paris (2005) 4:14; Buenos Ayres (2005) 4:07 and is looking to go under 4:00 in Chicago! He is 40, married to Ana, and they have three girls: Camila (19); Marília (17) and Luísa (15).
Luis signed up for the CEO Marathon Challenge because, as he says, "I think it will be a great networking oportunity, along with some nice activities such as the Sat. dinner, and the concept of running with people that have the same challenges everyday at work and find running as a great "therapy"!
