Neil H. Smith - InterGen (Burlington, MA)
Neil H. Smith serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of InterGen, a global electric power company with facilities on four continents. As CEO, Mr. Smith has the lead responsibility for the development, financing, construction and operations of all of InterGen's power plants. Neil has been with InterGen since its founding. He has been responsible for initiatives that range from the company's initial business plan in 1995 through the firm's $3.4 billion initial public debt offering in 2007. Prior to being named President and CEO, Neil served as InterGen's Chief Operating Officer.
A lacrosse player in college, Neil moved to recreational running in the late 1980's. His fascination with the Ironman began on his honeymoon in Hawaii when he and his wife Kathleen were spectators at the 1993 competition. Neil has previously completed three marathons and a number of Olympic distance triathlons, and he is looking forward to his first Ironman race. He will be supported by Kathleen and his children Skylar 11, Chloe 10 and Carter 5.
