Nickolas Jekogian - NWJ Companies (New York, NY)
Nickolas W. Jekogian, III is the founder and President of NWJ Companies. Nickolas founded the company while in college in 1991 with the purchase of a duplex apartment building in Center City Philadelphia. He has built NWJ Companies into a national, multi-family property ownership, investment and redevelopment organization that owns a $200 million dollar portfolio of 3,000 plus units in 17 markets. The company has grown by acquiring inefficiently -managed properties which meet company-identified improvement criteria. NWJ Companies now has a portfolio that includes markets from around the U.S.
Jekogian has not always been athletic -- it took the courage of others to motivate him: "I sat on the couch until watching the NYC marathon just after 9/11 when I saw people finishing in memory of runners that died in the World Trade Center. I did my first marathon a few months later, and now have completed seven marathons." His fastest marathon was NYC'06 3:44, and he did Ironman Coeur d'Alene in 2007 in 12:07.
Nickolas is supported by his wife and two daughters, who at 5 and 3, have become his training partners: instead of using the elevator every day to get to their 27th floor home, they use the stairs. Nickolas looks forward to the CEO Challenge for a chance to compete with like-minded athletes who deal with the same daily juggling of work, family, and training
