Peter Scharer is President and founder of Images In Foil, Inc. Established in 1993, Images specializes in producing niche currency-based paper and plastic products. Their main business is the production of mass transit passes; creating efficiencies and preventing financial losses for its customers while providing economical mass transit passes to over 30 million commuters. By incorporating cutting-edge technology, Images has virtually eliminated counterfeiting issues and provided higher security and better marketability for its clients.
While Peter manages the day-to-day operations of Images, he especially enjoys developing new products incorporating holograms, specialty inks, IR devices as well as electronic state-of-the-art smart card technology. As a former Marine, Peter is well aware of the teamwork required to make any enterprise a success. His entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for excellence extend beyond his work and he inspires and mentors others to reach their goals, whether those goals are in business or sports.
Over the years, Peter has been committed to fundraising for CAF and, especially now, is grateful for the opportunity to raise funds for CAF's Operation Rebound which helps American service members who have suffered permanent physical injuries in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Peter will be competing in his 11th IM this year; he has qualified three times for Kona and participated twice with a PR of 10.10 in 2007. He finds the IM distance inspirational because "we all have to dig deep and see what we are made of" and feels that this race is a metaphor for life. How well you deal with what the race hands you is indicator of how well you will handle life's little ups and downs. Peter participated in the 2005 CEO event and found it to be a wonderful experience - so did his wife as she enjoyed the exclusive VIP treatment! The CEO event was unique in that it brought together like-minded individuals who are self-motivators in business as well as in physical endeavors.
Peter and his wonderful wife, Shawnee, have been married for 24 years and they travel extensively for business as well as pleasure. He acknowledges that the most important person on his team is his wife, who supports him through his crazy training and is his number one fan.
