Sandra Murre - Jordan Engineering (Beamsville, Ontario, Canada)
Sandra Murre is the CEO and Founder of Jordan Engineering. Jordan Engineering is a group of engineers and computer professionals who provide Industrial Software Solutions, custom PLC Panel Design, 24 Hour Service Support, and Customized Training. As CEO and Founder her role has migrated from engineering to a combination of HR/Finance/Strategic Planner and of course fitness motivator. Sandra is the recent recepient of the YWCA Women of Distinction award in Science and Technology.
While Sandra may be the fitness motivator at her company, she was motivated by her son: 3 Years ago her then 8 year old son participated in his first Kids of Steel event and they were both hooked. At that time she was 39 and had been out of shape for nearly 20 years, and gained ~50lbs as fitness had been one of those things pushed to the background as she tried to get her company off the ground. She set a goal to complete a Try-a-Tri for her 40th birthday and began to gradually train for the event/goal. Over the next year she shed 20 lbs and encouraged her staff to join Sandra for the race. 100% of the staff came out and either did the Try a Tri or participated as part of a relay team. It was the start of a great tradition and this year again the staff came out and participated at the local Tri. In addition several staff have completed sprint tri's and long course tri's over the last 2 years. Completing the Muskoka 70.3 will be achieving the goal she set for herself this year, and she looks forward to the time on course "where all anyone will expect me to do is swim, bike or run."
Sandra is supported by her husband Rob, her son Jon (the original incentive) and her daughter Rosie. Sandra signed up for the CEO Challenge to set a new goal for the staff, and to promote the company ‘lifestyle', as well as to meet other competitors and learn about how they train, build their companies and where they vacation with their families :)
