Scott Binder - Comcast Colorado, Englewood, CO
Scott is the Chief Executive of Comcast in Colorado, with annual revenues of $1.1 billion. In this position, Scott is responsible for all aspects of the company's cable operations in Colorado, serving more than 1 million customers and 2,500 employees. Scott has been a cable operations leader for more than 19 years, managing cable systems across the country. He has previously served in management with Comcast in California, New Mexico and Arizona. For 10 years, Scott worked with Time Warner in Kentucky, California and Wisconsin. Scott was named the 2006 Denver Telecom Professionals Communications Executive of the Year.
Scott has an impressive athletic background, including playing Division 1 baseball before realizing he was better suited to endurance sports. Scott has completed three Hawaii Ironman races, with two top 100 finishes in 1985 and 1989, with a best time of 9:26. Scott also enjoys cross country skiing races, finishing the American Birkiebeiner three times. Scott has been supported by Teresa, a breast cancer survivor who has competed in over 20 triathlons, and they have been married for 21 years. They have three children - Kelli, 18, will run cross country at Pepperdine in the fall. Joey is a freshman in high school who runs cross country, is on the Junior Ski Patrol in Winter Park and plays baseball. Bridget, a wonderful surprise after the last Hawaii race in 1999, is a kindergartner and a budding downhill skier.
While triathlon was once the focus of Scott's days, he now enjoys balancing the opportunity to compete with being a good husband, father and executive. He has been blessed with the chance to race in Hawaii in the 80's and the 90's, and is racing there again in 2007 after winning the CEO Ironman Challenge Kona slot at Ford Ironman USA Coeur d'Alene in June.
Scott Binder was recently named the 2007 Fittest CEO in the World. This title is awarded to the winner of the CEO Ironman World Championships, held annually at the Ford Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
