2008 CAF San Diego Triathlon Challenge

2008 CAF San Diego Triathlon Challenge

October 24, 2008 - October 26, 2008

On Oct. 26, a select number of CEOs will have the opportunity to experience a half-Ironman distance event in San Diego that could change their lives! CEOs will be competing side by side with world-class challenged athletes, professional triathletes, celebrities (Robin Williams is a strong supporter of the CAF and typically attends this event) and able-bodied participants on one of the most breathtaking courses in the country – all to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF).

The Course is an extraordinary journey up the Southern California coastline and through the lush San Diego countryside, featuring a 1.2-mile ocean swim in spectacular La Jolla Cove, a 56-mile challenging bike ride, and finishing with a 13.1-mile run to Torrey Pines State Park and back to the finish in La Jolla. As a primary supporter of CAF, CEO Challenges has been able to secure 15 slots to the sold out San Diego Triathlon Challenge for CEOs, Presidents, and company owners that have a passion for triathlon, and would like to give back to the sport they love while competing in one of the world’s greatest triathlons.

What's Included in the Program

As part of the CEO Triathlon Challenge, competing CEOs will have special status at the event, including many perks and benefits, such as:
  • Invitation to the Celebration of Abilities dinner on Friday night, featuring world class CAF athletes and celebrities
  • Two nights’ accommodation at the 5-star La Valencia Hotel, steps from the start / finish area (arrive Oct 24, depart Oct 26; – www.lavalencia.com )
  • Special Gold Team racing uniform, swim cap, race numbers, and bike rack location
  • VIP registration area, including access to the ‘Peets Coffee Lounge’
  • Invitation-only swim with Pros and CAF athletes on Saturday morning
  • Group CEO Challenge lunch, with special guests, on Saturday
  • Access for two to the spectacular indoor VIP tent overlooking the cove on race day
  • VIP area at the Awards BBQ following the race
  • Awards on stage to the CEOs that raise the most money for the CAF charity
  • Welcome kit with gear worth over $350, including athletic apparel, towels, shoes, and sports bag

The intent of the San Diego Triathlon Challenge is to raise money for CAF, and therefore the race is not timed, and not competitive (the bike and run legs are on open roads, and all rules of the road must be followed). Fundraising prizes, and two Hawaii Ironman World Championship slots, will be given to the athletes that raise the most money for the charity (the slots are for all athletes, not just CEO Challenge participants.)

The all-inclusive cost for the CEO Triathlon Challenge is $4,500, and CAF will provide a tax receipt for $2,000 of this amount.
