Berkebile Wins the REV3 CEO Challenge!

Guy Berkebile, CEO of Guy Chemical in Somerset, PA, used his strong cycling skills to win the CEO Challenge at the REV3 Half in Cedar Point, Ohio on September 12.    Guy and Charles Williamson of Chartis Insurance came out of the 1.2-mile swim within seconds of each other, but Guy put the hammer down on the bike to open up a 9-minute gap over Charles heading into T2.   Charles rode a very respectable 2:32 for the 56-mile distance (22 miles mph avg), but Guy's 2:23 (23.4mph) left the rest of the group chasing him over the 13.1-mile run course.

Guy ended up winning in a total time of 4:40, which was also enough to earn him a first place in the 45-49 age group overall!    Charles came in second in 4:57 (4th in his age group), and Aaron Zeigler of Harold Zeigler Auto Group ended up third in the CEO Challenge in 5:51 - a great time for his first Half Ironman distance event (Aaron only learned to swim and bike in February of this year!).

CEO Challenge founder and President Ted Kennedy also took part in the race, ending up 1st in his age group in 4:46.

The REV3 race location at Cedar Point Amusement Park was a huge hit with the families of the CEOs, with access to the park on Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday.  The course itself was flat and fast, with a pretty steady west wind all day.  Fortunately the wind switched direction for race day and the water in Lake Erie was perfect.

  3. Aaron Zeigler Swim 40:16, Bike 2:56, Run 2:04 = Total 5:51
